Parkview Health Fort Wayne, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

Summary

The Nursing Informatics Intern will gain valuable, hands-on experience in the field of Informatics by working closely with members of the Nursing Informatics team at Parkview. This internship is designed to support nursing staff in their use of technology, including the electronic medical record (EMR), clinical mobility devices such as iPhones, and related software systems. The intern will assist with a variety of projects, including chart audits, data collection, and workflow analysis. Responsibilities may involve visiting inpatient units to support nurses in the use of clinical tools like downtime computers and mobile communication devices, as well as participating in testing sessions to gather feedback from nursing staff.

The role includes both on-site and remote work, with interns expected to reside in the Fort Wayne, IN area for the duration of the program. Interns will attend a mix of virtual and in-person meetings to develop a deeper understanding of the informatics role in healthcare. Remote tasks may include completing audits, analyzing data, and presenting findings in graphical formats using tools like Microsoft Excel. Much of the work supports safety and quality initiatives, offering interns a meaningful opportunity to learn how technology enhances patient care. While this role does not involve direct patient interaction, it plays a key role in supporting those who provide bedside care.
