Media Relations Analyst

Summary

Summary 

This remote position supports media relations efforts for all Parkview Health facilities, service lines, physicians and programs to help maintain and enhance Parkview’s reputation locally and nationally. Reporting to the Media Relations Manager and working closely with the larger Marketing and Communications team, focuses on identifying and analyzing media coverage to produce routine media coverage reports for leaders and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Monitors traditional, broadcast, and digital news platforms and identifies relevant news coverage impacting U.S. healthcare and the communities served by Parkview Health. Analyzes and summarizes mentions of Parkview Health, linking related storylines and identifying tone, themes, key developments, and patient and community feedback. Uses research tools and media monitoring platforms (training provided) to collect, evaluate, and structure media data. Delivers a media coverage report each weekday on schedule. Triages identified concerns or risks to appropriate leaders in a timely manner. Stays current on news cycle both locally and nationally. Assists in documenting Parkview media mentions and developing monthly and annual reports. Assists in the distribution of press releases. Assists in building and managing media lists.

Education 

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or related field.

Experience 

2+ years of marketing or communications experience; healthcare experience preferred. Project management experience, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and produce results on time. Experience using media monitoring software such as Meltwater, Agility, etc.

Other Qualifications

Proven ability to discern high-priority news stories from a large volume of media sources. Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information into clear, concise communications. Strong online research skills. Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail. Detailed knowledge of media relations principles and tactics, as well as familiarity with local media outlets. Solid relationship-building skills with the ability to professionally interact/communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to follow directions and work independently, with minimal supervision.
