Nutrition Support Summer Clinical Intern
Summary
This internship offers hands-on experience under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian, assisting with patient-related tasks, meal planning, and nutrition education. Interns will contribute to research, community outreach, and food service operations. Key responsibilities include collecting patient nutrition data, performing dietary data analysis, coordinating literature reviews, and supporting food service logistics. This role requires strong communication, analytical thinking, organization, empathy, and effective teamwork skills. The preferred degree program or area of study is Dietetics.
Projects Assigned to the Intern:
Collect and analyze data from clinical documentation, coding, and reimbursement processes, then synthesize the findings into professional PowerPoint presentations.
Manage daily inventory and ordering of nutritional supplements and formulas, along with patient satisfaction survey data collection and reporting.
Specific Skillsets Preferred:
Strong communication, analytical abilities, organizational skills, and teamwork are essential for success in this internship.
Work Week Structure:
Required Days of the Week: Monday through Friday
Required Hours per Week: 32–40 hours/week
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Must meet one of the following requirements: current CNA EMT or Paramedic certification, or must take Parkviews Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire 2 year’s experience in a healthcare-related field training time will be determined based on experience currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18 two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted. Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required). Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire. Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to critically think. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
