Summary
The Captain/Supervisor/Specialist of Training is a critically important member of the Police & Public Safety Professional Development leadership team, providing supervision of daily departmental operations through trainings, policies, and practices. Ensures sworn officers, public safety officers, & non-sworn personnel development activities are coordinated, planned, and carried out in an effective and efficient manner and to ensure all state and regulatory training requirements are met and documented. In conjunction with the Chief of Police/Corporate Director of Public Safety, is responsible for coordinating and supervising all training and education for police & public safety personnel and in-service trainings. Works with Hospital, PPG, and Organizational Development leadership and team members to assist in the development, coordination, and delegation of training opportunities for co-workers in the Essentials of Aggression Management program to create a safe and secure environment of care. Knowledgeable about the law enforcement professional practice model, strategic plan, evidence-based practices, and quality improvement processes, and apply these tools and models to daily practice. Develops, oversees, and continues to improve an effective Field Training (FTO) model to deliver effective and robust training to all new hires within Police & Public Safety. Oversees and develops aspects reviewing and managing policies, procedures, and best practices, and coordinates those best practices into the department training needs and exercises. Also responsible to oversee quarter master duties including but limited to uniforms, general officer equipment, ballistic vest management, training equipment, firearms, tasers, and ammunition.
EducationHigh School diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree required or obtained within 24 months. Master’s Degree or Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board Master Trainer Certification preferred.
Licensure/CertificationValid Driver's License. Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) certification, ILEA Instructor Development, certified through ILEA in 2 of 3 psychomotor skills: i.e. Firearms, EVOC, Defensive Tactics. Successfully pass the IAHSS Supervisor course within 18 months of appointment.

ExperienceMinimum 5 years law enforcement experience. Minimum of 2 years leadership experience required including experience with system/organization wide accountability, system educational initiatives and process improvement activities.
Other QualificationsMust have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to lift, push/pull up to 70 lbs. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must be able to work flexible hours and on-call as assigned and must be willing to travel to all Parkview Health Facilities as needed.
