Precision Health Nurse
Summary
Summary
The Precision Health Nurse plans, coordinates, and delivers high-quality, professional nursing care for Precision Health patients in alignment with departmental policies, American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Clinical Practice, the Indiana Nurse Practice Act, and the ANA Code of Ethics. This role manages multiple Precision Health cases simultaneously while meeting departmental timelines and supporting clinical decision-making, research initiatives, and operational improvement efforts.
The Precision Health Nurse collaborates closely with physicians, scientists, project leaders, data coordinators, and community partners to support clinical care, research activities, and precision medicine initiatives across Parkview Health.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Precision Health Activities
- Review and interpret patient electronic medical records and genetic/genomic test results
- Maintain current knowledge of companion diagnostic tests and molecularly targeted therapies
- Communicate effectively with physicians, clinic staff, patients, and community partners
- Support local, regional, and national clinical trial matching
- Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and clinical staff
- Provide education and updates to clinical and research staff as appropriate
Research & Project Support
- Coordinate and execute Precision Health projects and research initiatives
- Assist with preparation of data sets for analysis
- Participate in genomic research studies and dissemination of findings
- Assist with or lead development of grant proposals, literature reviews, study protocols, manuscripts, posters, presentations, and white papers
- Collaborate on all phases of clinical decision support and research execution
Compliance, Safety & Quality
- Maintain compliance with FDA, HHS, ICH, CFRs, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines
- Coordinate research activities in accordance with regulatory and IRB requirements
- Report adverse events and protocol deviations as required
- Monitor research activities to identify risks and promote continuous quality improvement
- Protect confidentiality of patient and research data at all times
Service Excellence & Collaboration
- Represent the Precision Health team at Parkview Health and community-based meetings
- Foster strong partnerships across the Parkview research community
- Promote Parkview’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions
- Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and service excellence in patient and colleague interactions
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
- Acceptable accrediting agencies: CCNE, ACEN, or CNEA
- Completion of Parkview General Orientation, Patient Care Orientation, and required clinical research training
Licensure & Certification
- Active Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current CPR certification
Experience
- Additional experience may be required based on specialty area and assignment
Other Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet-based applications
- Strong data management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with up to 100 pounds
- Travel may be required depending on assignment
