Advanced Medical Simulation Laboratory - 3D Printing Team Summer Non-Clinical Intern
This summer internship position’s primary responsibility will be to assist the additive manufacturing (3D printing) team with creative problem-solving, planning, design, prototyping, and manufacturing duties. Specific duties would include research, maintaining hardware and software, computer aided design (CAD) work, 3D printing, laser engraving, prototyping, and appropriate record keeping. This position will engage with various clinical departments and subject-matter experts to assist in project completion.
The intern will be assisting with the Forever in Your Heart bereavement program, which utilizes 3D scanning and 3D printing to create customized keepsakes for Parkview’s perinatal loss families. They will also be assigned various projects related to the creation of patient-specific anatomical models, novel task trainer development and use, and custom education models for providers and patients. Design engineering process experience and technical skills with CAD software, SLA or FDM additive manufacturing, two-part RTV rubber molding, soldering, programming, data collection, or other engineering-related skills are highly recommended for this position. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency is also highly recommended.
Monday through Friday 1st shift hours, approximately 0830 - 1700. This internship would be a good fit for a student with an educational background in the engineering fields, computer science, healthcare, or other related fields would best fit this internship. This internship will be within the Advanced Medical Simulation Laboratory but will be working solely with the small 3D printing team within the lab.
Must be current undergraduate college student or graduate college student. Specific educational focus or degree may be preferred depending on the hosting department of internship. Specific license and/or certification may be preferred depending on the hosting department of internship. GPA of 3.0 or above Submission of Cover Letter Resume and Letter of Recommendation. Other qualifications may vary by department of internship.
