Outpatient Orthopedic Therapy Services Summer Clinical Intern
Summary
This is a full-time, clinical internship position designed to support our outpatient physical and hand therapy teams. The primary objective is to enhance the quality of care we provide to our patients by engaging in process improvement initiatives, developing educational materials for both patients and clinicians, and taking on administrative responsibilities. By offloading these tasks from our front-line providers, the intern will help increase their availability for direct patient care.
During the internship, the intern will be assigned to meaningful projects such as creating educational resources in collaboration with our therapists and contributing to operational efficiency through process improvement initiatives. These may include tasks like improving room turnover, assisting patients entering or exiting the department, conducting chart audits for compliance, and offering general administrative support.
We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates initiative, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset. The ideal intern will be eager to learn, engage with the team, create solutions, conduct research, and assist in various capacities as needed.The position requires a 40-hour work week, with scheduling flexibility within our clinic hours of operation. The clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 6:15 PM, and on Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:45 PM. Hours will be distributed across these days to meet the 40-hour requirement.
While there is no specific academic program required, candidates from relevant healthcare or rehabilitation-related fields who possess the desired skillset and mindset will be best suited for this role. Must meet one of the following requirements current CNA EMT or Paramedic certification or must take Parkview Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire 2 years’ experience in a healthcare related field training time will be determined based on experience currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18 two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted. Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required). Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire. Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to critically think. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
