Pharmacist Scheduler
Summary
Parkview Regional Medical Center (PRMC) invites applications for the position of Pharmacist Scheduler. This critical role supports seamless operations across Parkview Allen County locations including Inpatient, Outpatient, Ambulatory, and Home Infusion pharmacy services, ensuring that every patient receives the highest quality pharmaceutical care.
Position Details
The Pharmacist Scheduler is responsible for developing, coordinating, and publishing pharmacist schedules across designated sites in Allen County and the surrounding area. This position is pivotal to maintaining operational integrity, continuity of care, and supporting the dynamic staffing requirements of a robust pharmacy department. The Scheduler will work on-site at PRMC and provide vital administrative support to the pharmacy team at this location.
The Pharmacist Scheduler will:
- Coordinate and publish schedules for Inpatient, Outpatient, Ambulatory, and Home Infusion pharmacy services, guaranteeing consistent, high-quality patient care coverage.
- Balance departmental priorities, shift preferences, and operational needs utilizing sound judgment and discretion, especially with sensitive or confidential information.
- Manage and process short-term and long-term off-time requests (including FMLA and STD coverage) to ensure uninterrupted service and efficient operations.
- Assist with onboarding new pharmacist staff by communicating scheduling policies and supporting the development of training calendars, enabling smooth and structured integration into pharmacy operations.
- Utilize advanced organizational and technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word), to streamline scheduling and communication workflows.
- Serve as the principal liaison between pharmacists and departmental leadership, handling all scheduling-related communications with professionalism and clarity, including monitoring absences and supporting monthly attendance reviews in collaboration with pharmacy leaders.
- Coordinate access to pharmacy facilities, answer department phone calls, and manage department supplies to ensure daily operational needs are met.
- Adapt to growth in the role by supporting additional administrative tasks such as tracking mix-check/unit inspection reports, scheduling department conference spaces, and preparing packets for meetings and departmental functions as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Prior experience in healthcare scheduling, pharmacy operations, or administrative support strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word) and strong aptitude for new scheduling or communication systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for interacting with pharmacists, department leaders, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines while maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative to streamline and improve scheduling and administrative processes.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and respect for privacy regulations.
- Commitment to supporting high-quality patient care through optimized staffing and logistical excellence.
