Health & Well-Being Summer Non-Clinical Intern

Parkview Health Fort Wayne, IN (Onsite) Full-Time

Summary

This summer intern will work alongside a team of registered dietitians to advance the Food Is Medicine platform and strategy, supporting both preventive and treatment initiatives. The intern will assist with program planning, implementation, and evaluation, attend daily meetings, and collaborate closely with the team. This role provides the opportunity to engage in a variety of nutrition-related projects, including areas such as food insecurity and access, chronic disease and lifestyle medicine, and youth and family nutrition.

Throughout the internship, the intern will assist the Community Nutrition Supervisor and team with tasks such as maintaining the recipe library, updating educational materials, and supporting the development of an electronic library of nutrition resources. Additional projects will include integrating scopes of work into the Food Is Medicine strategy, building a comprehensive electronic resource library, and hosting tastings at the HEAL Farm Market. All community well-being interns will also collaborate on a group project determined during the program.

Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills, with prior public speaking experience preferred. Experience working directly with the public—particularly with vulnerable populations—is also beneficial. The intern should be self-motivated, comfortable taking initiative, and familiar with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards. Experience with website development is a plus, especially for contributions to the electronic nutrition resource library project.

This is a full-time internship, requiring approximately 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend commitments as needed.

Preferred candidates will be pursuing a degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or a closely related field that supports the goals of the Food Is Medicine initiative.

Must be current undergraduate college student or graduate college student. Specific educational focus or degree may be preferred depending on the hosting department of internship. Specific license and/or certification may be preferred depending on the hosting department of internship. GPA of 3.0 or above Submission of Cover Letter Resume and Letter of Recommendation. Other qualifications may vary by department of internship.
