Summary
Summary
Under the direction of the Behavioral Health Central Intake Supervisor, functions as a Behavioral Health Intake Navigator in processing intakes for behavioral health services. Conducts professional client interviews obtaining accurate demographic, insurance and medical information including but not limited to mental health history, current and past drug use, past or active thoughts of suicide. Accurately and professionally documents phone encounters in client medical records using a pre-built template. Navigates clients to the proper provider based on services needed, insurance, and medical history and schedules the initial assessment. Schedules interpreters as needed. Researches clients medical records to ensure the proper assessments are scheduled based on past services. Processes incoming referrals from external and internal referral sources, such as PPG, Department of Child Services (DCS), Court system, Community Corrections or State hospitals. Reviews referrals and determines patient’s eligibility for services based on treatment recommendation, insurance benefits, and geographical coverage. Coordinates authorization of services with the payor and maintains authorization during the patient’s episode of care. Completes inbound and outbound calls to complete client interviews and schedule initial assessments. Obtains mental health assessments and uploads them to Kids Track for DCS review. Communicates with DCS Family Case Managers regarding the status and updates of referrals. Identifies the Level of Need (LON) determined by the state and accurately loads the correct Medicaid Rehab Option (MRO) benefit package into EPIC. Works with clinical staff on LON denials so assessments can be resubmitted to the state. Obtains treatment plans and assessments for MRO benefit updates and uploads them to the Indiana Medicaid website. Completes group home admissions as identified by group home administrators and schedules the initial assessment. Functions as the central point of contact for interactions with referral source, care team members, administrative employees, and patients. Is responsible for the delivery of quality performance and service excellence with each phone encounter; and adheres to the Parkview Standards of Behavior.
EducationMust be a high school graduate or the equivalent with GED.
Licensure/CertificationAddendums are required for 0153 Nurse Leader, 0249 Registry RN, 0252 Registered Nurse, 0235 Advanced Registered Nurse, and 0236 Expert Registered Nurse. To view addendums, go to the job description page on Parkview’s intranet.
ExperienceTwo years of experience in a hospital access or mental health navigation department. Experience in a mental health or substance abuse setting preferred. Experience with Microsoft suite of products is preferred.
Other QualificationsMust pass a DCS background check. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to work independently. Must show competency with Federal and State regulations.
