Outpatient PTA
Summary
Summary
Provides professional patient care by implementing and documenting physical therapy treatments as directed by a licensed Physical Therapist. Administers therapy in accordance with physician orders and the plan of care established by the Physical Therapist, using a variety of therapeutic techniques and assistive devices to support functional improvement across all areas of the patient’s life. Follows individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and collaborates with the Physical Therapist to update and revise plans as necessary. Instructs patients, families, and caregivers in exercises and home programs to continue following discharge. Ensures timely and accurate documentation and billing. All care is delivered in accordance with the philosophy and standards of the hospital, rehabilitation department, Indiana State Practice Act, American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and The Joint Commission.
Education
Must have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.
Licensure/Certification

Must hold or be eligible for licensure as a PTA in the state where services are provided; licensure must be obtained within 90 days of employment.

CPR certification required within the first 90 days of employment.

Must maintain all required certifications and licensure.

APTA membership preferred.

If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required. If using a personal vehicle, proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license are required.
Experience
Prior work experience is preferred but not required beyond clinical experience obtained during an educational program.
Other Qualifications
-
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, assist with up to 100 pounds, and may be required to push/pull up to 300 pounds.

Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Must be willing to work at other locations as assigned.
