Outpatient Rehab Summer Non-Clinical Intern
Summary
This internship offers an excellent opportunity for students pursuing careers in physical, occupational, or speech therapy to gain real-world experience in a busy clinical environment. Interns will be involved in daily tech support tasks that are essential to the smooth operation of the therapy department. Responsibilities include restocking clean linens, bagging and removing soiled linens, hand-washing therapy tools, cleaning treatment tables after patient sessions, and performing light dusting throughout the department. Interns will also be responsible for alphabetizing daily charge edits, recording equipment temperatures in daily logs, and running the dishwasher to sterilize pediatric bottles and other equipment.
In addition to these daily duties, interns may assist therapists with treatments, help organize and maintain supply closets and occasionally support service excellence efforts by making reminder calls or greeting patients at the front desk. This hands-on experience provides valuable insight into the day-to-day workflow of rehabilitation services while allowing students to play an important role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both patients and staff.
Interns will also have the opportunity to contribute to specific department projects. Examples include reorganizing supply closets to improve efficiency and accessibility, as well as printing, cutting, and laminating visual or tactile materials used in speech therapy sessions. These projects are designed to support clinical work while helping interns develop organizational and administrative skills that are useful in any healthcare setting.
The ideal candidate will be a mature, responsible student with a strong work ethic and a desire to support both patients and therapists through attentive and compassionate service. Strong organizational skills, a cheerful attitude, and excellent customer service are essential for success in this role. Interns should be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
This is a full-time internship requiring 35–40 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday during daytime hours, with some variation in the daily schedule. Students enrolled in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology programs are strongly encouraged to apply, as this role offers meaningful exposure to their chosen field and helps bridge classroom learning with clinical practice.
