Oncology Nurse Navigator
Summary
Summary
The Oncology Nurse Navigator's focus is to assist in producing quality, cost-effective outcomes for patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. The Oncology Nurse Navigator facilitates the transition of the oncology population across the continuum of care. Works collaboratively with patients, families, physicians, office personnel, nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team to overcome barriers to patient progress and desired outcomes. The Nurse Navigator provides a network of educational, physical, emotional, spiritual, psychosocial and financial assistance to patients and families, including information on community and national resources as needed.
Education
Must obtain Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within three years of employment or will not be eligible to continue in the role. Coursework is completed outside of work hours. Nurses with an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), hired/rehired or transferred from a non-nursing position prior to 12/1/17 are grandfathered into the role and not required to obtain BSN.
Licensure/Certification
Valid Registered Nurse License required for the State where services will be provided. Certification in specialty area is preferred, or must obtain within 3 years of employment.
Experience
Two years of active clinical nursing experience in specialty preferred.
Other Qualifications
Must have excellent verbal and written skills.
