Physical Therapist Job Requirements

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy with a physical therapy degree:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree if graduated before January 1, 2016.
  • Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) required if graduated after January 1, 2016.
  • International candidates must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy; a DPT is preferred.

• Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Physical Therapist license in the state where services will be provided. Licensure must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.

• CPR certification required within the first 90 days of employment.

• Must maintain all certifications and licenses according to their expiration dates.

• Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is preferred.

• For employees assigned to drive:

  • A valid driver’s license is required for company vehicles.
  • Proof of insurance is required in addition to a valid driver’s license when using a personal vehicle.

• Work experience is preferred but not required, aside from clinical experience completed during the educational training program.

• Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
  • May be required to push up to 300 pounds.

• Must be willing to work at other locations as assigned.
