Professional Develop Associate
Summary
This position will support the Sterile Processing Department within the perioperative service line.
Summary
Serves as a resource for planning, coordinating and facilitating continuing professional development (PD) and clinical education throughout Parkview Health. Contributes to the overall functioning of the nursing professional development department. Uses tools, theories, skills and knowledge of PD to improve the practice of coworkers.
Education
Must have an Associate degree, Bachelors preferred, from an accredited program in nursing, surgical technology, surgical first assistant, paramedic, psychology, social work, human services, human resources, organizational development, education, information systems, or other health profession. For surgical technology, must be a graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or must provide evidence of employment as a Surgical Technologist prior to July 1, 2009. For surgical first assistant, must be a graduate from surgical assisting program accredited through ARC/STSA, a collaborative effort of ASA, ACS, and SASA, by CAAHEP. CAAHEP is a recognized accreditation agency of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Licensure/Certification
For nursing, valid Indiana Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse license required. For surgical technology, must have current certified surgical technologist certification; certification must be renewed every four years; completes required 15 CEU credits annually. For surgical first assistant, must have a certification for surgical first assistant obtained through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); maintains certification by earning approved continuing education or by successfully retaking the certifying examination at the conclusion of the renewal period. Must maintain current CPR certification.
Experience
Must have minimum of two years experience in the role this position will support, direct patient care, education, and/or training and development.
Other Qualifications
Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Minimum proficiency with technology ie. Microsoft Office suite.
