Parkview Whitley Physical Rehab Summer Clinical Intern
Summary
This internship provides hands-on experience in a rehabilitation department, offering exposure to daily operations that support patient care. Interns will assist with maintaining department logbooks, treatment room turnover with linens, cleaning tasks, and patient monitoring during therapy treatments. This role is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in rehabilitation or a related healthcare profession and provides valuable insight into the teamwork required in a clinical setting.
Projects:
- Conduct routine supply checks to ensure no expired items remain in stock.
- Complete daily log sheet reviews for therapy modalities to support compliance and accuracy.
Preferred Skillset:
- Strong interest in rehabilitation or a related healthcare field.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to work as part of a team.
Work Schedule Structure:
- Required Days: Monday–Friday
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift: Day shift, 8 hours per day, starting at 8:00 or 8:30 a.m.
Preferred Areas of Study:
We are looking for an intern that is studying in the areas of rehabilitation sciences, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or other related health professions.
Must meet one of the following requirements: current CNA EMT or Paramedic certification or must take Parkviews Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire. 2 years’ experience in a healthcare-related field training time will be determined based on experience currently enrolled in a nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18 two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted. Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required). Acceptable accrediting agencies are the Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire. Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to critically think. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
