Orthopedic Service Line Summer Clinical Intern
Summary
The Orthopedic Service Line Clinical Summer Internship will offer a dynamic opportunity for students who are passionate about healthcare and committed to making a meaningful impact in patient care. Our interns are considered valued members of our team and play a vital role in our mission to deliver excellence across both clinical and non-clinical areas.
As a clinical intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced healthcare professionals and gain exposure to various aspects of our service line. This includes time spent in both clinical and non-clinical settings, designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of potential career paths and the broader healthcare environment.
Interns will also have the chance to select a project that aligns with departmental and personal goals. Projects for 2026 are already outlined and will be reviewed by each intern at the start of the program. Past intern projects have included:
- Hand Hygiene Improvement (System-Wide Goal)
- Infection Prevention in the OR Environment (Service Line Goal)

Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a healthcare-related program
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Must meet one of the following requirements current CNA EMT or Paramedic certification or must take Parkviews Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire 2 years experience in a healthcare related field training time will be determined based on experience currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18 two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted. Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required).
Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire. Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to critically think. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
