Community Outreach Dietitian
Summary
Under the guidance of leadership, delivers on the established goals & outcomes that align with our Food Is Medicine platform. Researches and delivers evidence-based strategies around community nutrition programs and initiatives. Utilizes findings related to community health survey data to develop programs that are specific to nutrition security and healthy food access. Explores the relationship between food and health by integrating nutritional science with traditional medical interventions to provide culinary medicine education for healthcare professionals.
Utilizes approved curriculum to deliver nutrition education in various formats such as but not limited to writing blogs/articles, creating and editing curriculum/handouts/guides, providing high impact in person & virtual programs, and delivering nutrition education in individual and group settings at Parkview locations and out in the community. Regularly facilitates programming independently as well as co-facilitates, including seed to table programs with our greenhouse team. Understands the need for providing both daytime and routine evening learning opportunities for our community and healthcare professionals.
Designs, implements, evaluates and refines programs and process to achieve desired outcomes. In conjunction with leadership and other team members identifies and delivers outreach & relationship building strategies to the achieve maximum impact within identified community groups.
Education
Bachelors Degree in Dietetics or related field from a University accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Masters Degree preferred. Completed an ACEND®-accredited supervised practice program/internship at a health-care facility.
Licensure/Certification
Indiana State License obtained within 6 months of hire
Experience
Prefer 3 to 5 years experience with patient education, community outreach, and project/program management.
Other Qualifications
Must demonstrate experience with and passion for facilitating programs in a variety of ways to a wide array of audiences. Ability to structure program content logically, be thoroughly prepared to deliver content, engage the audience and respond to their needs, and deliver on program objectives.
