Premium Outpatient PTA
Summary
Provides professional patient care and practices physical therapy by implementing and documenting treatment following evaluation by the physical therapist. Treats patients in accordance with the order from the physician and the plan of care established by the physical therapist and provides treatment through the use of a variety of therapeutic procedures and assistive devices intended to maximize functional potential in all areas of the patient's life. Implements an individualized treatment plan based on the therapist's evaluation and plan of care to address patient needs. Collaborates with Physical Therapist to identify updates and revisions to treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process. Establishes and instructs patients, families, and other caregivers in exercises and therapeutic home programs to be continued following discharge. Completes the appropriate documentation and billing in a timely manner. All care is provided in accordance with the philosophy and essential functions of the hospital, the rehabilitation department, the Indiana State Practice Act, the American Physical Therapy Association, and The Joint Commission.

Education: Must have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.

Licensure: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a PTA license in the state where services will be provided within 90 days of employment.

Certification: CPR certification required within 90 days of employment. Must maintain all certifications and licensure per their expiration dates.

Membership: American Physical Therapy Association membership is preferred.

Driving Requirements:

If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required.

If driving a personal vehicle, proof of insurance is required in addition to a valid driver’s license.

Experience: Clinical experience from an educational training program required; additional work experience preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds, and may need to push up to 300 pounds.

Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Flexibility: Must be willing to work at other locations as assigned.
