Summary
Summary
The Behavioral and Safety Nurse Navigator is a nursing position, with specific years of experience with high-risk populations of violence, behavioral concerns and psychiatric/addiction conditions. Responsible for responding to Randallia Hospital’s Behavior Response Team overhead pages for situations where behaviors arise. Provides direct patient care to defined patient population and families based on the needs of the individuals according to areas of expertise to promote health and safety to improve workplace violence, improve patient experience and reduce staff and patient assaults. Performs screenings, assessments and interventions such as the Clinical Alcohol Withdrawal Assessment, Columbia Severity Screening Risk Scale, Physical Restraints, Medication Reconciliation and Administration.
Responsible for providing expertise in the practice of nursing to produce quality outcomes, promote evidence-based practice and demonstrate cost-effective practices via collaboration with the patient, nursing personnel, physicians and all applicable stakeholders. Is responsible for the delivery of quality performance and service excellence with each patient encounter; and adheres to the Parkview Standards of Behavior.
Education
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure/Certification
Active RN license and CPR required. Achieve Psychiatric - Mental Health Nursing Certification with one year of employment.
Experience
At least two years of experience in a behavioral health inpatient hospital or mental health navigation department. Experience in Emergency Department is preferred.
Other Qualifications
Must be competent in the following areas: Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale, CIWA Management, Trauma Informed Care, ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine). Must be competent in EoAM and achieve EoAM Trainer status within 6 months of hire.
