Job Summary
Our dynamically growing department is seeking additional talent to join our vastly diverse team as our responsibilities expand. As pharmacist staffing responsibilities are shared between the outpatient and inpatient setting, we are looking for a candidate who is voracious, life-long learner willing to learn new concepts and help advance the practice of pharmacy in both settings. The responsibilities of this position will certainly evolve as our organizational pharmacy services continue to expand.
As a significant aspect of this role involves staffing our outpatient pharmacies, the ideal candidate will have excellent people skills and be a vital team member and leader. Considerable amounts of empathy in all interactions with patients is a must.
With a unique opportunity to staff in an independent outpatient pharmacy with access to a patient’s medical record, candidates must be able to take a comprehensive approach to regular pharmacist’s duties such as prescription review and DUR when dispensing prescriptions.
Candidates must be willing to think outside of the box and be eager to suggest and implement process improvements in the outpatient setting. This person will also have excellent organization, communication, and technical skills and the drive to interact with other healthcare professionals and pharmacy students closely. This candidate will supervise pharmacy technicians and will have the desire to work hard and do whatever is necessary to help the team succeed. Conflict management and an understanding of the nuances of team dynamics are critically important. The candidate will need to be comfortable with autonomy and be able to self-motivate and function with minimal supervision. The individual will be diligent, willing to take on whatever responsibilities are necessary, and able to effectively multi-task. Candidates will be expected to maintain their composure and quickly switch between tasks when working in a high-volume pharmacy environment.
With the increase in inpatient drug monitoring needs at order verification, the historical job requirements of the operational pharmacist are quickly changing. This pharmacist will be expected to complete evaluation of patient-specific factors that influence drug therapy at order verification. Requirements will include the review of patient information, identification of key factors impacting therapy, and adjustment of therapy via protocols or reaching out to providers. Responsibilities of this position will change upon management request but may include training, coaching, and the development of specified staff as the operational pharmacy model moves to a more clinical approach. This person must be willing to continue to grow and learn within this environment as the position changes.
Minimum of a B. S. degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of Pharmacy. A Pharm. D. degree and/or PGY1Residency preferred. Must be eligible for or hold a valid and current license as a Registered Pharmacist from the Indiana State Board of Pharmacy. If eligible must obtain Indiana licensure within 180 days.
